A man was killed and two others were injured in a hammer and knife attack on a main street in Paris.

Officials have confirmed that the person killed was the victim was a German citizen.

Mr Darmanin claimed that the suspect could be heard screaming “Allahu Akbar”, Arabic which means “God is greatest”, and said he was angry with police for the reason that “so many Muslims are dying in Afghanistan and in Palestine”.

The suspect was sentenced to four years in prison following being found guilty of planning a second attack in 2016. He was listed on the French security watchlist.

He was said for having suffered from psychiatric disorders as well, Mr Darmanin claimed.

On Saturday the video was shared on social media sites in which the suspect was criticized by his French government and talked about what he described as the killing of innocent Muslims, AFP news agency says.

On X which was previously Twitter, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his condolences to all who were affected by the “terrorist attack” and thanked the emergency services for their swift response.

“The national anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office will now be responsible for shedding light on this affair so that justice can be done in the name of the French people.,” he added.

It’s less than two months after an instructor was murdered during a stabbing attack on a high school in northern Arras and prompted authorities from the French administration to place the nation on the most secure level of national security alert.

The suspect was identified by the intelligence services

In a statement to the media, Darmanin said that the suspect was born in France in 1997. He was sentenced to prison for four years in 2016 after he had planned “violent action.”
