There were 75 hikers in the area at the main eruption on Sunday, but the majority of them were evacuated safely.

It is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia’s 127 and is a favorite among hikers.The trails were reopened in June, due to eruptions of ash during January through February.The deadliest Marapi eruption took place in 1979 in which 60 people were killed.
Three people were found near the crater on Monday, before the search was halted.Three of them had been “weak and had some burns” according to Abdul Malik, head of the Padang Search and Rescue Agency.
Forty-nine climbers had been evacuated out of the region earlier in the morning, a lot who also suffered burns.
Authorities did not immediately reveal the names that the trekkers were.
